Weekend Update - March 15th

  • Drugs in the water, chemicals in your underwear, fresh sins against a burned-out God. Salud! Mark Morford instructs us how not to die every single day.
  • He's been defended by AIPAC on his Israel views, made it clear that he's Christian, yet the media keeps swallowing right-wing lies. The continuing attack on Barack Obama.
  • Barack Obama: "On My Faith and My Church."
  • While New York Governor Eliot Spitzer was paying an ‘escort’ $4,300 in a hotel room in Washington, just down the road, George Bush’s new Federal Reserve Board Chairman, Ben Bernanke, was secretly handing over $200 billion in a tryst with mortgage bank industry speculators. Greg Palast writes about "Eliot's Mess."
  • Don't Doubt the Limbaugh Effect. Comedian Rush Limbaugh REEEELY wants Hillary Clinton to win the nomination. He's SO ready for this. Really.
  • Another first for our beloved President. George W. Bush made history on March 8, when he became the first American President to use the veto power to preserve the right to torture. Makes you proud to be an American, don't it?
  • Chalmers Johnson wrote three books about "Blowback." Barack Obama's pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright says basically the same thing about America and is heavily denounced. p.m. carpenter wonders why.
  • And speaking of reverends, Rev. Sun Myung Moon has been called many things from "True Father," to bloody madman. Click here for a fascinating study of one of the strangest and least scrutinized figures in the conservative media world.

  • Shhhhhh. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Now that is has become clear that neither Obama nor Clinton will have enough delegates to secure the nomination prior to the convention it certainly reminds one of an old politician's prayer, attributed to Voltaire:

"Lord protect me from my friends, I can handle my enemies."
